Eulogy to Father Robert, Uncle John / Encomio a Padre Robert, Uncle John

As the Sun sets on the horizon and the Crescent Moon in Sagittarius is rising, I want to bid safe travels to someone that has marked my life.
Last night at 03:00 CET on the 19th November 2017, my Uncle, left this dimension to go to another. He has finally found rest from his physical sufferings he had been undergoing for years now.
He was a Sagittarius, born on the 6th of December 1938. He was one of my mother’s brothers, both Roman Catholic priests and the last one to die. They, in turn, were nephews of other priests, all set on teaching the church’s doctrine, through its philosophy, theology and theurgy.
I come from a long line of persons that have dedicated their lives to the church, to a belief. My own grandmother, my mother’s mother was a cloistered nun, until she decided that her calling had changed.
I had the honour to remember many of these priests, but, Father Robert, Uncle John, played a special role in my life.
We were never close as a normal uncle to niece relationship. My uncles lived in a convent. So having some time with them was always structured to a certain type of behaviour. Not one that fosters close family ties.
But somehow Uncle John and I found a way to bridge that gap, using the gap itself.
His Mercury in Sagittarius, his way of thinking and communicating is conjunct with my Jupiter in Sagittarius, my way of finding meaning in life, of expanding my horizons.
His Jupiter, his way of finding meaning in life is on my Ascendent, that is me.
His Sun, his vital force, is conjunct to my highest point in my natal chart, that is, my standing in society, the legacy I will leave.
How did it translate in our lives?
Well, I was always a bit of a mystic. I hungered for the meaning in life, for the connection with God/Goddess. He fed that hunger. He taught me how to read the scriptures by reading in between the lines, by teaching me the history of the Bible, its creation, the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Sumerian culture and how the Roman Catholic church was a result of many other religions before it.
He gave me books that were only given to priests in training, he gave me insights why the Catholic mass was celebrated the way it is, the rituals behind it and their meaning.
He was so pleased when I got an excellent result in my Religious study exam.
I remember fondly the theological debates we had every time he came at my parents’. They were real debates, for every statement I proposed, it had to be sustained by theology.
Uncle John, perhaps will never know, how much his teachings have changed the course of my life. It was because of those debates, of those lessons, that my want to know more eventually brought me in contact with other religions and philosophies.
And perhaps will never know that I turned the whole circle and back to Mesopotamia, where Astrology was born.
Perhaps he will never know that I am now an Astrologer because he took time, to explain to me the Spirit of Faith, the Beauty of Creation, and the human need of meaning in life, be it in a religion or the study of the stars.
Safe travels, Uncle John.
The last time we heard each other you asked me to pray for you.
This is my prayer for you.

I know I will meet you every time I will open a book to study.

Buon viaggio Uncle John.

A strange creature / Una strana creatura

"What a strange creature the human being: gropes in the dark with intelligent expression! "

Kodo Sawaki Roshi

A great yearning burns in me. The absolute want to express myself. To articulate words out of this confusion that is embedded in the emptiness that generates one thought after the other.
In that silence, which is so full and impregnated with desire to understand and grow, that hurts my very essence.
To not only appear but be.

To non only be but live.
To not only live but evolve.
To not only evolve but be convinced that a reason is behind everything that happens.
To not only be convinced but also be one with that very Reason.

The Promise of Spring / La Promessa di Primavera

"If you give up when it’s winter,
You will miss the promise of your spring,
The beauty of your summer,
And the fulfilment of your fall."

Pity I’m still in winter here..constantly trying to find a way out of an everlasting fog!

Yesterday while I was coming back home late in the evening after Argentine Tango I was thinking about the Spring Equinox that had just happened. How however terribly cold it was (and still is). It was even raining. All of a sudden on the radio this song started.
I talks about winter leaving, of summer coming, of the intense feelings it brings with it…
of the time that has come to leave time and space to those who say that I haven’t ever given them time and space.
Well it touched me…it so meaningful to me.
Time has come to let go and move along….to let go of rigidity and the fear it brings with it…to dance to the rhythm of life and its seasons
This is my song for this Spring Equinox.
Malika Ayane: Come Foglie

I do not know how many of you are familiar with the TV series Detective Monk. I’ve been told many a times that sometimes I do resemble him…and yes these last few days were what I can definitely define as Monk days.
I was going around the house putting things in order, by colour, by alphabet or whatever it happened to be. Dusting the remotest part of the house, cleaning the computer keyboard, the window sills and the interlocking parts of the mosquito nets, electrical switches and the telephone lodgings.
I know it will eventually pass. I got used to it by know and accept it as part of my nature…it is a cycle, a necessity…my way of dealing and digesting what is going on in my life.

So che passerà.

Povia & Sanremo 2009

I do understand Povia’s right to say and sing whatever he wants to. I’m not discussing this point here. But since his song has been aired in Sanremo’s festival where 1 out 2 of the Italian population and not only watches it, I've asked myself the following questions:
Why choose a story of a gay that falls in love with a woman and becomes heterosexual? Why not choose the other way round; a heterosexual male that falls in love with a man and he’s serene about it?

Malta, Pride of the Maltese / Malta, orgoglio dei Maltesi

I received this video via mail. It is a bit old-fashioned but when I watched it I felt a bit homesick.

(I do understand that the song is quite appropriate but hasn’t a more recent song been written since?!)

My unbearable me / Il mio intollerabile io

There are days that I can’t stand myself, that I want to switch myself off, that I become so unbearable that I can’t even stand the faintest idea to stay with myself. There are days that I would like to throw that part of myself down through the drains… and today is one of those days!

A Painful Christmas / Un Natale Doloroso

I did have my share of Christmases alone but this Christmas is one of the worst ever because I deserve it all.
I deserve being here writing on my computer instead of being with others preparing to jovially eat together.
I have caused too much pain with my carelessness and intolerance. The worst part is that I not only inflicted it on myself but I also inflicted this pain on other persons who each in their own way have and still care for me.
I didn’t give enough time to time…
I’m becoming a bear that doesn’t know how to stay in company even if what it desires is company. What I have left is to accept this part of me knowing that it will never change however hard I try. All I can do is to stay on my own for quite a while until I’m sure I really understood myself and not in a position to hurt myself and others.
Then and eventually then reopen the window again to the outside world.
It might seem light-hearted to say that I’m sorry but this is what I really want to say to those persons who with my actions I have ruined their Christmas and New Year.

A pulse-cadenced life / Una vita ritmata ad impulsi

I do not know why but this news struck me: 140 years ago the first traffic light (using a gas lantern) was devised and we spend roughly 5 years of our lifetime waiting for the traffic lights to change.
Have you ever thought how many weird things you do while you wait for that blessed red light to change?
The following are only a few examples (feel free to add more): change cd, put on the headset, look out for an unknown road on the street atlas, put your make up on, drink, search for apparently lost items in the car, observe the nearby drivers (a very peculiar species I dare say)…
But my all time favourite is to be able for those long seconds (or minutes depends on the traffic light) to look in my loved one’s eyes without putting my life at stack.
What can I say, 5 years of forced meditation, of crossroads, lost or found opportunities… A symbol of a pulse-cadenced life where brief snapshots taken at intersections eventually become bookmarks of our existence.

Restlessly the Wind Knocked / Irrequieto il Vento Busso

This morning the wind woke me up,
Restlessly knocking on my windows.
Embedded in his being,
The roaring sounds of the sea,
Where only a few metres away,
a crescendo of waves,
Sign the cadence of an eternal song of love,
Between the sea and the terra firma…
Where one ceases the other commences…
There can’t exist one without the other.

I live on this boundary,
On this fine line full of respect,
Of love,
Of balance.

And in the meantime the wind keeps knocking…
And with it comes the sea…
Conveyed on sand particles,
Impatiently hoping to dwell in my heart,
Which I humbly concede.

Life is a balancing act / La vita è un opera di bilanciamento

Life is a balancing act…an individual balancing act. To each one of us the choice to balance it or not. Each at his/her own time and pace…and no one can do it for us. Neither can we do it for others…and sometimes this is a hard concept to learn.

"My angel
so much I'd like to tell you
so much of what I've seen
I'd plant behind your eyes

My angel
I know I can’t compel you
to any of my ways
as you walk beneath the merciless skies

My angel
my angel
the more I see, the more I grow,
the less and less I seem to know
only that
life is just a balancing act.

The demons
the fear that will confine you
the fire that will burn
your innocence away

The heartbreak
the pain will seek and find you
and loneliness will grow
with every passing day.

My angel
my angel
I won’t be there to always dry
the tears that gently fill your eyes
so will you remember that
life is just a balancing act.

My angel
my angel
the more I see, the more I grow,
the less and less I seem to know
only that
life is just a balancing act."

“The great awareness comes slowly, piece by piece. The path of spiritual growth is a path of lifelong learning. The experience of spiritual power is basically a joyful one.”

Peck, M. Scott

An very appropriate quotation for this period particular period of my life. My mentor always tells me “There is always a choice”. And in this period I choose to wait and learn with joy.
And by the way life has a funny way to remind you of important things. While I was driving I heard this song which well is much more than fitting to reinforce the message through!

Silence of the Soul / Il Silenzio dell' Anima

I reached the shore as if taken by hand. My eyes filled with tears and my lungs grasping for air. All I could do is be there on that deserted sandy shore late at night.
All I could do is leave on the seaside a bundle filled with regrets and pain, poisoned and deadly words. I removed it from my grief-stricken heart and left it there under a midnight blue starry night where it delicately reflected the nearly full moon.
A excruciating act… but all of a sudden there you were Adamant and Ginger, a hand each on my shoulder… many others quickly joined in. Their presence made it known to me by filling me with an overwhelming sense of love and peace.
We stayed there and watched as the sea slowly enclosed the packet and bit by bit take it away….gradually towards the horizon.
And slowly to my breath stillness came to be, to my mind peace and to my soul….silence.

Past, Present and Future / Passato, Presente e Futuro

Definitely living in the present,
With a glance cast towards the future,
And a appropriate consideration for the past.

Si, vivere nel presente,
Con uno sguardo verso il futuro,
e un giusto riguardo al passato.

Lost Love / Amori Persi

I can’t stop thinking about a question that keeps coming back in my mind:

Where does love goes when it finishes?

Where did it get lost?

Where did all the suffering begin?

Maybe scattered as small bloody pieces in the blind alleys of day by day lack of understanding?

Lost by those bridges never crossed or worst still never created?

In unsuccessful exchanges or in downright failures?

In futures wished together but only separate possibly feasible?

That initial love so vigorous to blind all senses…that slowly became excruciating, dehydrated, cut off from all means of survival.

Until at the end it succumbs and all of a sudden dies….

Where does all that love towards a beloved person go when all that love ceases to live and with it all that has been created together?

Perso in quei ponti mai attraversati o peggio ancora mai creati?

Emotions are the salt of life / L'Emozioni sono il sale della vita

Emotions are the salt of life, too little or too much alters our personal emotional growth as a whole person.

I was “deaf and dumb” to this essential part of my life….finding myself in a situation where my emotional growth was stuck far way behind my real biological age. Causing not only undesirable confusion with consequent pain and solitude but also an utter ignorance of who I am and what I want in my current life.

I’m learning to deal with emotions and not vice versa . To question them, look at them, consider and evaluate them, live them without being drowning….What others have taken years to learn I’m trying to catch up in the least possible time while respecting my learning capabilities.

Emotions are there to help us grow. They are like books, they come in all sorts of colours, sizes, languages and fonts. Some are easy to read, others come in volumes of complex writing that take weeks or even years to metabolize. It doesn’t matter, what it is important is to know when to close the book before water reaches flooding levels.

Some must be taken in pinches as salt…such as catalysers in biological chemistry crucial for life’s sustainability , so are emotions spiritual catalysers. Used in nano levels are vital for growth, exaggerating in doses can be tremendously toxic if not fatal.

It all boils down in knowing where to stop, close the book, temporary place it in a virtual mental library and take it out again after what has sadden the heart has been understood by the soul.

Mercury Retrograde / Mercurio Contro

This evening ladies and gentlemen I’m shedding away all my aplomb and all the wisdom I’m trying to achieve in my life and let go of what I’m feeling inside.

I feel like a pressure cooker.

Can’t keep under control my blood glucose level nor my weight. This is not because I’m not keeping my diet but it is because my body is on mutiny.

It is asking to give vent to its worst instincts, asking to be calmed down, eased, freed of all the hatred that can be humanly imagined trapped in every single cell of my body, in every gully of dispersed and out-of-control molecules.

Now it has been weeks that to have something done in my life, I have to work a hundred times more than usual and this does not guarantee that I succeed. I try hard to organize things ranging from private life to work and every single thing seems to autodestruct just like in a Mission Impossible film. A perfect example of Murphy’s law.

Doesn’t help much if I workout harder or clean and rearrange every single corner of my house in a obsessive-compulsive manner just to help ease out was is making me feel so bad.

Just know, I would like a fine sharpened surgical knife to cut and remove…but what? What the hell am I going to remove? All of myself? (And who’s going to hold the knife?)

Blame it on Mercury retrograde for three weeks, blame it on my hormones that have gone berserk, blame it on all the world including the solar system, blame it on whatever it is, but all I would like to do is to yell with all my might “F…………K it all!”

Tutta me stessa? (E chi tiene i bisturi poi?)

Every- day Archaeology / Archeologia Quotidiana

I feel like an archaeological site,
Where work is always in progress,
Where what was present has become past,
Where theories change constantly and continuously,
As new ideas are slowly absorbed
And made self.
A timeline not always linear,
Where minor tragedies and earthquakes
demolish previous boundaries,
that merge into highways,
transform marshlands into new cities.
Where clean cut theories has been surpassed,
And transition is the key-word.
Loss is part of evolution,
Progressively taking place in every gesture made,
In every word said or just thought,
In every emotion lived.
Where once was grandeur or misery,
Memory gradually forgets…
And life takes over.

Mi sento come un sito archeologico,
Dove il lavoro è sempre in corso,
Dove il presente diventa passato,
Dove le teorie cambiano costantemente e continuamente,
Mentre le nuove idei vengono assorbite lentamente,
e fatti diventare se.
Una linea del tempo non sempre lineare,
Dove piccole tragedie e terremoti
Demoliscono precedenti barriere,
che si fondono in autostrade,
trasformano paludi in nuove città.
Dove teorie ben definite sono stati sorpassati,
E transizione è la parola chiave.
La perdita fa parte dell’evoluzione,
Accade progressivamente in ogni gesto fatto,
In ogni parole detta o semplicemente pensata,
In ogni emozione vissuta.
La dove c’era grandezza o miseria,
La memoria lentamente dimentica….
E la vita prende il sopravento.
