"Annie on my mind" took my heart in its hand and led me through a beautiful simple sweet love story which I could feel part and parcel of ...No complicated scenarios, no strange vocabulary but literature that speaks to the heart.
Everyday life, everyday problems, things that most of us, or at least me have passed through.
Every single detail talks about love. Mind you I said Love, because it’s just secondary the fact that the story is about two gay teenagers. And that’s what is all about, love, in all its dimensions, all its colours… love on daily bases which I could relate to. That’s what’s compelling about this book which I suggest fervently to read, gay or not.
Thank you Nancy Garden!

Principesse Azzurre, amore lesbico e il curry/ Princess Charming, lesbian love and curry
Principesse Azzure Vol 2 is a collection of short stories, of love stories and everyday life of women that love other women, edited by Delia Vaccarello.
As in any collection I found stories which I really enjoyed others which I really couldn’t understand what the author was trying to transmit to the reader. Few months ago I read vol 5 of the series and I have to say I have found it better than this one I’ve just finished.
At the end of the book there are various interesting and useful lesbian themed internet sites and a list of Italian books that have a lesbian tinge.
This is a passage from one of the short stories which I really liked, written by Alda Spav e Monia Lesta. It reminded me of the film Nina’s Heavenly Delights (2006) where curry met lesbian love.
“Alda dipped her fingers into Monia’s hair, abandoning herself and with her eyes closed whispered. “You are in my curry”. They nibbled at the white potato dumplings that they had dressed with small slices of bitter apples, nutmeg , a teaspoon of cream and flambé looks. They gently mixed the whole thing, transforming it into a creamy paste with their kisses and moulding it with their caresses. Awkwardness faded away. Alda discovered her place at the table of pleasure. Holding tight Monia and savouring her softly, she groaned: “You will always be my victual”.
The duvet, that lay on the bed, collapsed as a sponge cake, under their weight.
They merged endlessly in time.”

"Feeling isolated means, not having anyone around or not perceiving who’s around; not identify ourselves with observable experiences; not feeling life’s expressions reaching us and echoing in ourselves. It means also loosing the possibility of interlocution…
So we strategically choose to adjust ourselves to a world where relationships are unfamiliar, isolating from our image the truest part of ourselves. We build an image that is publicly respectable, that doesn’t represent our authenticity, which sometimes compresses or downright contradict it…
Forced in our invisibility, our petitions become mute sufferings…
Rarely challenged, deprived from contact with reality, our dreams risk dying due to malnutrition, not to grow, to remain fixed in an dreamlike time. And this surrealism is already painful. The dream in fact,is not only a dream in itself: we demand that it becomes the world we would like to have a place in …
Just let us remain in the lexical world: how many times yet, not pronouncing a word means stripping the event to which it refers of its true significance? For how long still does pronouncing the word “lesbian” in public will cause embarrassment or astonishment in at least one person present? Is this not a sign of how much is still in vigour “dictatorship”through words? "
Taken from: Delia Vaccarello, Introduction to Principesse Azzurre Vol 2.
Costrette all'invisibilità le nostre istanze diventano sofferenza muta...

I've just finished reading ioAmo written by a friend of mine Stefania Diedolo. It's her first lesbian novel. And I have to say Well Done!
I feel surrounded by utter silence as if time has slowed down. Thoughts that stop to allow the story to be adsorbed in living tissue that is my body and my mind.
A book that sometimes I found it difficult to read, because every single word was impregnated with emotion. Words not only had their cannonical significance but also a life on their own, that came into being when through my eyes touched the mind and then the heart.
Those that struck me most I posted them as I was reading the book.
These phrases left my mind suspended in mid-air, my heart brimming with vivid emotions and with the rich taste of words that only a finely crafted pharse can impart.

Tu gli appartieni.../ You belong to it....

"You are the sea, that becomes you, just as you mirror yourself in it.
Nothing can take you away form its innermost being, because you belong to it."

Il mio divenire...
"Vorrei spazi nuovi per il mio divenire.
Spazi liberi dove il giudizio
non è di casa,
l'ipocrisia non vive
di semina quotidiana,
il dolore
è un lusso per pochi
e l'invidia
Attrazione cerebrale
Fa rotta nell'anima.
E collima nel pube.
Fisicità.
Eccoti!"

Perfettamente incastonati
