I would recommend this book to anyone who has ever had problems with their mother or simply need to understand mother-daughter dynamics. This interplay does not only effect the direct protagonists but it also has a profound effect on our choice of friends, partners and work. Understanding this relationship means starting the road to real maturity.
I myself being a person who is in therapy because of a dominating mother, found this book helpful. Reading about other women having problems with their own mother helped me feel less lonely and less of a freak.
The book is divided in various sections amongst which the various types of dysfunctional mothers and the different types of dysfunctional daughter. One the result of the other in a series of cause and effect transmitted down through generations.
Reading it helped me understand more of what my therapists says and proud of having started a journey in not only discovering myself but also maybe of one day being able to accept my mother for who she is….a person with all its pros and cons, daughter and product of her generation and those of her forebears.

Your child and daughter / La tua bambina e figlia
Sometimes writing is the only means to come to terms with emotions, with facts of life that are too painful to be kept inside just as a concept. Our body becomes a too small a container to withhold all the outflow of emotions held back, never expressed or even conceptualised. Writing helps pointing down the ache and ease its letting go.
I keep coming back and forth to my mother. She’s a diamond with a thousand and one faces that impregnates with its light my temporary reality, my way of thinking, my way of dealing with life. It is a life-long process dividing myself from herself. A life-long process of understanding who I am.
A life-long process in coming to terms with a void her presence has left in my existence. An emptiness of a daughter grown up to an adult that unconsciously still yearns for that mother that refused her love and understanding.
So here I am today in front of this undeniable truth, standing on my two feet, pinpointing the emptiness with words, encapsulating it in phrases so to delimitate and understand, forgive and bless and out of nothing create.
I forgive you mother even if I think you never accepted or tolerated me as your child and daughter.
I forgive you mother even if I still think you never accepted or tolerated me as your child and daughter.
I forgive you mother even if I will never stop thinking that you never accepted or tolerated me as your child and daughter.
(Letting go by Wings of Sorrow)
Ritorno sempre a mia madre.

What a day!
Seen 4 road accidents while coming back home. 3 in the same road. The funny side of one of the accidents is that a carabinier's car was involved most probabily running to the accident just a couple of 100m metres down the road. Hopefully none got hurt, although two ambulances past by me while I was trapped in the queue.
This morning while I was battling with a 70km/h wind to go in the car I hear my mother calling on top of her voice from the window of their appartment on the 4th floor...I do not know how to explain my feelings...strange, hilarious, comic?! I know she does it because she cares but this doesn't stop me from feeling uncomfortable.
I am carving for my spaces, my freedom and I feel guilty cause they came here to see me...and I can't take it anymore to have them round. I feel run after by a hound.
Will I survive? More than anything else will I survive my dutyful daughter guilt feelings?
