Jane Rule, the famous lesbian writer that wrote Desert of the Heart on which the renowned lesbian film Desert Hearts was based, died at 76 of liver cancer.
I have seen the film, one of the first dvds I've seen when I accepted myself as gay.I'm ashamed to say I didn't know it was based on Jane Rule's book.
So what I will eventually do to amend is read the book. Reading about her on lesbianlife.about.com I found out that she wrote other books, novels and non-fiction.

Lei è la scrittrice di Desert of the Heart su cui si è basato il film Cuori nel Deserto. Desert Hearts è stato tra i primi film gay che ho visto dopo che mi sono accettata. Mi è piacuto allora. Sicuramente dopo questa notizia c'è la voglia di rivederlo ma soppratutto leggere qualche libro di Jane Rule che stupidamente ho ignorato la sua presenza nel mondo letterario. Non sapevo neanche che il film era tratto da un suo libro.
Per quelli che leggono in italiano ho fatto qualche ricerca su Ibs. Di Jane Rule mi da solo Cuori nel deserto che si può reperire con estrema difficoltà. La casa editrice è Zoe questo è il link
